Italian Whisky
Italy is known for its wine, cheese, pasta and countless other delicacies. Whisky is not yet one of them. Italian culture is clearly characterised by countless types of wine, such as the multi-faceted red wines, Marsala and the grape marc spirit Grappa. However, with the Puni distillery in South Tyrol, Italy has had an ace up its sleeve since 2012 and its own single malt whisky. In keeping with Italy's wine culture, Puni whiskies are predominantly matured in Marsala wine barrels. The distillery in the upper Vinschgau Valley produces a sweet and fruity Italian whisky that you should try. Let's hope that other distilleries follow Puni's good example and that we will soon be able to taste more Italian whisky.
