Types of Scotch Whisky

Scotland - the land of whisky dreams. The Scots have been making their whisky for many hundreds of years and it has become world famous: Scotch whisky. But not all Scotch is the same. In Scotland, there are basically only two types of whisky: malt whisky and grain whisky. Malt whisky is made from 100% malted barley and is distilled on the beautiful copper stills, the pot stills. This is probably the premier class of Scotch whiskies, because here you will find enormous variety and individuality at the same time. From the floral, soft Glenlivet to the earthy, peaty and heavily smoky Ardbeg, there is something for every taste. If several single malts are blended, this is referred to as a blended malt Scotch whisky. There are also great, delicious creations to discover here, such as the smoky Islay malt Big Peat or the vanilla-sweet, smooth Speyside malt Monkey Shoulder. A particularly light type of whisky is the Grain Scotch Whisky. It is made from different types of grain and is continuously distilled. This makes it sweet and light. A great alternative to malt whisky, especially in summer! Last but not least, blended Scotch whisky includes the most famous whiskies in the world with Johnnie Walker, Chivas Regal and Famous Grouse.
