PR: Michter's releases 10-year-old Rye for 2020

Michter's Distillery, based in Louisville, will begin shipping its 2020 release of its 10-year-old single barrel rye this month.

"This will be the only release of our 10-year-old Rye this year as we continue to be in a position to focus our whiskeys," said Michter's President Joseph J. Magliocco. "I am very grateful to our team for the excellent work it has done." While Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery has been closed since mid-March, production and bottling continued in Michter's Shively Distillery.

"I just love a Kentucky style rye, not only because of the wonderful spice note, but also because of its rich and balanced balance, because it contains a good amount of corn and malted barley. The 2020 release of our 10 year old rye is a great example of Kentucky-Style Rye in my opinion, "said Michter’s master distiller Dan McKee.

"There is nothing like a really good rye distillate that has matured in a barrel for more than a decade, which has been toasted and then burned out, and has been cyclically exposed to heat in a warehouse to get a rich, rich flavor profile that changes perfect for sipping, "commented Michter's Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson.

In addition to operating its major distillery in Shively, near Louisville, Michter's operates two other locations in Kentucky. In Springfield, Michter's grows grain on its approximately 59 hectares (145 acres) of land, while the company also operates a second distillery in downtown Louisville in the historic Fort Nelson building. Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery is in a prime location on West Main Street, opposite Louisville Slugger and in the same block as the Frazier Museum, and works with the legendary pot still system from Michter's Pennsylvania Distillery. Depending on the hours of operation, informative tours with whiskey tastings are offered and The Bar at Fort Nelson, where classic cocktails compiled by spirits and cocktail historian David Wondrich.

Michter's produces highly acclaimed whiskeys with limited production. Michter's is famous for its Single Barrel Rye, Small Edition Bourbon, Single Barrel Bourbon, and Small Edition American Whiskey. More information is available at www.michters.com.
