Midleton

Translation: - (proper name)
Region: Ireland, County Cork

Where the heart of Irish whiskey beats.

Tullamore Dew. Powers. Paddy. Jameson. The most famous Irish Whiskeys are all from Midleton in County Cork. More specifically, from the New Midleton Distillery, built in 1975 after the merger of Irish whiskey distillers into the Irish Distillers Group.
But distilling was much, much longer. Already at the beginning of the 17th century there should have been distilleries in Midleton. And in 1825, the original Midleton Distillery, which still exists, has been proven to be established. It stands next to the new complex and now houses the highly interesting visitor center "The Jameson Experience".

A little history

A Midleton Distillery in the eponymous village was founded in 1825 by the Murphy family. Around 1900, several smaller distilleries from the area merged with the Midleton Distillery to form the Cork Distilleries Company. Among the most famous whiskeys of the group was the "Paddy", named after the extremely popular and successful seller Paddy Flaherty. In 1966, John Power & Son and John Jameson & Son merged to form the Irish Distillers Group. The production should be centralized in one place. For space and logistics reasons only Midleton came into question. In addition to the old Midleton Distillery, a modern new complex was created with different burners and large capacity. Production started here in July 1975, the old Jameson Distillery on Dublin's Bow Street became a show distillery with the Visitor Center portraying the story of Jameson Whiskey. In addition, the old Midleton Distillery was also converted into a similar visitor attraction, now called The Jameson Experience.

What are they doing?

Everything. Well, almost everything you know about Irish whiskey. The Midleton Distillery features Jameson, Tullamore Dew, Powers and Paddy as well as Redbreast, Green Spot, Yellow Spot and the exclusive "Midleton" fillings (Midleton Very Rare, Midleton Dair Ghaelach, Midleton Barry Crocket Legacy ... ).

3 reasons to love Midleton

1) Because your own favorite Irish whiskey comes from here with a great chance.
2) Because the whiskeys from Midleton are an indispensable part of Irish history.
3) Because you love and live here whiskey.

The one drama for the lonely island

The exclusive bottlings, which are offered under their own name Midleton, are the flagship and without question worthy of honor. But we want to break a lance here for the Redbreast. A "single pot still whiskey" that could not be more typical for Ireland: made of malted and unmalted barley, distilled in the pot still method, fine, fruity, with elegant sweetness. A classic!
