This brings joy to many whiskey fans: A look at the TTB database gives hope for two very interesting new bottlings from Diageo.
TTB? That stands for the American "Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau". This agency is responsible for the taxation of alcoholic products in the United States. And if you want to sell alcohol in the USA, you have to register your product here beforehand. The registration includes some information. Among other things, the provider, brand name, alcohol content, contents and a picture of the labels must be registered.
This data is then published in the TTB database. Means: The inclined whiskey enthusiast often sees at an early stage what exciting new releases we will have in the future. It is not certain whether the registered bottling will actually come. But the probability is very high.
Now the first two labels for the Diageo Special Releases 2020 have appeared. These are two time-honored single malts from the Speyside area.
On the one hand, this is a 20 year old Cragganmore with 51.4% vol. The new label with natural motifs says that it should appear complex and with strong wood notes.
The second novelty is a new Mortlach 21yo. The label describes him as "Powerful, Meaty and Commanding" and "The Beast of Dufftown". The Mortlach was finished in Pedro Ximinez and Oloroso sherry casks and with 53.3% vol. bottled.
Bottlings are expected for autumn. We are excited.
