Linlithgow
Founded around 1800, the distillery of St. Magdalene has been shut down in the Lowlands since 1983.
St. Magdalene is located in the village of Linlithgow, once the seat of the Scottish kings.
There are also bottlings of this distillery under the name Linlithgow.
Today there are apartments in the old buildings.
Atypical for a Lowland distillery is the fact that at St. Magdalene / Linlithgow the whiskey was burned only twice, as well as the untypical relatively high peat content.
St. Magdalene / Linlithgow produced a malt with a wonderful lemon tone.
The additional maturation in cognac barrels gives this malt an exceptional creaminess.
