The Islay Whiskey Festival "Feis Ile" has started. And normally there is a real party in and in front of the distilleries on the island. With music, distillery tours, tastings, lots of good-humored people and an exuberant atmosphere.
This year it looks a little different because of the corona pandemic. The event, which many whiskey lovers look forward to all year round, cannot take place as usual.
But the distilleries are determined not to let the party get ruined. And so an extensive virtual program is offered online, in which as many as possible should be able to participate. There are live chats with distillery managers, virtual tours, online tastings and much more. The main topics follow the originally planned Open Days and are distributed as follows:
May 23 Lagavulin, May 24 Bruichladdich, May 25th Caol Ila, May 26 Laphroaig, May 27 Ardnahoe, May 27 Bowmore, May 28 Kilchoman, May 29 Bunnahabhain, May 29 Law, May 30 Ardbeg.
You can find out exactly what happens when and on the official Feis Ile Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/feisile.islay/
And if you really get an Islay appetite, but have failed to order a tasting package in advance, you will definitely find what you are looking for. Sláinte!
