Even final is not final. Luckily.

In 1992, the owners of the closed Glenglassaugh distillery, which had been closed for years, let the firing license go out. A serious step that is only done if you do not intend to ever produce again. This was the final stroke of the story of Glenglassaugh distillery, which was often shut down throughout her life, though her malt was very popular.
But fortunately it was not.
In 2008, the distillery was bought by the Dutch Scaent Group, renovated and reopened with a new license - to the delight of all Malt enthusiasts. Dead people live longer. Slàinte!

A little history

Glenglassaugh was founded in 1874 by Glenglassaugh Distillery Company around James Moir. In 1875, production began on the site of the old Craigmills Farm. After the death of James Moir in 1887, the distillery was equipped by his nephew Alexander Morrison with new stills and fermenting vats. In 1892, Morrison sold the distillery to Robertson & Baxter, which they passed on to the Highland Distilleries Company in the same year
The following decades were characterized by more or less long closures. In November 1986, the distillery, it seemed, was finally closed. In 1992, the firing license was returned.
In early 2008, The Scaent Group bought the distillery for £ 5m and reopened it on November 24, 2008.
Since March 2013, Glenglassaugh has been part of the BenRiach Distillery Company, which has successfully "revived" BenRiach and GlenDronach.

What do I actually have in the glass?

The Malts of Glenglassaugh are stubborn and "have always inspired the imagination," they say. And yes, you can discover all kinds of things in the finely balanced whiskeys: flowery freshness, fruitiness, grass and grain, gentle sea air and pleasant sweetness.
Incidentally, Glenglassaugh can be found in the blends of Laing's, Cutty Sark and The Famous Grouse, the most successful blended Scotch whiskey in Scotland.

3 reasons to love Glenglassaugh

1) Because the malts just deserve it.
2) Because it is worthwhile never to give up hope.
3) Because treasures are more in secret.

The one drama for the lonely island

To get to know: the Glenglassaugh "Revival".
For the 50th birthday, for the silver wedding, the birth of the first son or similarly weighty festive occasions, to which one wants to treat something very special: The 35-year-old from 1978 from the Sherry Hogshead.
