Finnish Whisky
Considering the unforgiving conditions for whisky in Finland, it's basically a miracle that there is any at all. The dominance of vodka, the ban on advertising alcohol and the high taxes make it difficult for Finnish whisky producers. But Finnish whiskies such as Teerenpeli and Kyrö prove that where there's a will, there's a way (or a whisky). How is Finnish whisky made Finland is definitely not short of high-quality grain. Finland is one of the most important grain and malt producers in Europe. Teerenpeli produces non-smoky and smoky single malt. Rye is part of everyday life in Finland, so it's no wonder that rye whisky is also produced at Kyrö and the Helsinki Distilling Company. What does Finnish whisky taste like? So far, Finnish whiskies have been strong, spicy and with flavours of wild honey and heather. However, there are still too few different distilleries to be able to speak of a standardised Finnish whisky style.
