Coleburn

Translation: Bach on the corner (possibly also derived from "Charcoal Burn" = Kohlbach)

Region: Speyside

Burning bubbles to beds.

Coleburn is dead, long live Coleburn! Already in 1985, the distillery was shut down, 1992, the license went out and the firing systems were dismantled. The buildings are still standing and are well preserved. The former, beautifully situated distillery is now to become "The World's First Whiskey Hotel". Planned is a high quality, stylish hotel complex with 60 beds and a large spa area. The approval for this was granted in 2010, since then one is busy with the detailed planning and the search for investors. So if you still want to get started - it will be beautiful ...

A little history

The Coleburn Distillery was founded in 1897 by John Robertson & Son Ltd. founded. Architect was none other than the famous Charles Chree Doig. In 1913 the distillery was shut down and three years later by the Clynelish Distillery Co. Ltd. Taken over in 1916. In 1925 Coleburn went to John Walker & Sons Ltd. and John Risk and thus to Distillers Company Ltd. (DCL), which she handed over to her daughter Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD) in 1930. In 1968 they closed their own Maltings. In 1985, the distillery was shut down in 1992, the license withdrawn. The buildings are still preserved, in 2010 the permit was granted for the conversion to a hotel complex.

What do I actually have in the glass?

The Coleburn has a light body with a dry character and a bittersweet note.

3 reasons to love Coleburn

1) Because we desire what is rare.
2) Because it looks so beautiful here.
3) Because the Rare Malts bottling is not only rare, but also delicious.

The one drama for the lonely island

Coleburn bottlings are extremely rare. Anyone who can get hold of a bottle of the 21-year old from the Rare Malts series: access! The bottling is suitable as an investment as well as for enjoying equally.
