Auchroisk

Translation: ford at the red water
Region: Speyside

Quality is just getting through.

Actually, the Auchroisk distillery was only built to deliver malt as a component for blended whiskeys. However, the whiskey produced here proved so good that the plans were changed relatively quickly. As early as 1978, less than four years after the start of production, a single malt was bottled for the Japanese market - unusually young at the age of three.
While the quality of the malts was beyond doubt and remained, the name turned out to be a certain hurdle. "Auchroisk" (pronounced "Och-reusk") was not so easy on everyone's tongue and memory. For a while, the malt was sold under the name "The Singleton". The term refers to the last available barrel of a particular whiskey in whiskey jargon and is now used for other malts from Diageo.

A little history

The history of the distillery is still young. Auchroisk was founded by IDV (International Distillers & Vintners) in 1972 to provide enough malt whiskey for the blends of the company. In 1974, the distillery was completed and began production.
Already in 1975, the distillery was initially taken over by Watney Mann and later that year by the American whiskey giant Grand Metropolitan. Since the merger of Grand Metropolitain with Guiness 1997 Auchroisk belongs to the resulting company Diageo.

What do I actually have in the glass?

Fruity sweetness, clear sherry notes and a warm, soft finish - the Auchroisk is a palate flatterer for actually every season.

3 reasons to love Auchroisk

1) Because the name already has character.
2) Because it is good when good is recognized.
3) Because the distillery combines traditional and modern architecture skillfully.

The one drama for the lonely island

The 13-year-old from the C & S Dram Collection offers fruits, spices and lots of power! A multi-layered experience.
