Ardnahoe is the ninth single malt whisky distillery on the legendary island of Islay. The youngest Islay distillery began operations in November 2018. It is owned by the independent bottler Hunter Laing, who enlisted the help of whisky legend Jim McEwan to develop it. Under his leadership, the Bruichladdich Distillery once found new splendour. Ardnahoe is located between Caol Ila and Bunnahabhain on the east coast of Islay with a fantastic view of the "Sound of Islay" and the "Paps of Jura". The Visitor Cafe has been awarded 5 stars by Visit Scotland. Ardnahoe produces both non-smoky and lightly and heavily smoky single malt. The malt with a peat content of 5 to 40 ppm comes from the local Port Ellen malthouse. Ardnahoe is the only distillery on Islay to be equipped with traditional worm tub condensers. The old cooling systems with copper pipes in the water bath ensure a heavier spirit. So we can be very excited about the whiskies from Ardnahoe. Ardnahoe is sure to be a classic Islay whisky, but certainly with some special character traits.
