Portrait: What makes the Isle of Raasay Dùn Cana Second Edition so special.

The small Isle of Raasay is the focal point for the single malt that bears its name. It provides natural ingredients, an entire island community involved in the production, and a breathtaking panorama.
This served as a source of inspiration for both the bespoke bottle of the Hebridean whisky and the limited-edition Sherry Quarter Cask Release, the Isle of Raasay Dùn Cana. The annually renewed series pays homage to its Hebridean homeland, crowned by the iconic peak of Dùn Caan (Gaelic: "Dùn Cana"), the highest hill on the Isle of Raasay. In keeping with the distillery's tradition, the Second Edition blends peated and unpeated whisky.
After initial maturation in rye casks, it was intensively refined in small quarter casks (125 liters) that previously contained Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry from Bodega Miguel Martin. The result is not only older, but has gained even more depth and complexity compared to the First Edition.
At 52%vol., the Dùn Cana exudes peppery spice, dried sultanas, roasted nuts, and a hint of vanilla, before finishing with salty chocolate and a hint of aromatic wood smoke. According to business magazine Forbes: the best single malt Scotch whisky of 2024.

Outturn: 15,000 bottles
