Portrait: What makes the Glenfiddich 12 year old special

Glenfiddich presents its award-winning 12-year-old single malt in an elegant gift box and simultaneously invites you to sample the 15-year-old, produced using the solera method.

The 12 year old single malt is probably Glenfiddich's best-known, matured in former bourbon and oloroso sherry casks.
The 15 year old Speyside malt is initially aged in three different cask types, based on the solera method used in sherry production, before all are blended together in one solera cask.
Only half of this solera cask is bottled; the other half remains in the cask and is refilled with a new batch.

Founded in 1886, the world-famous distillery from Scottish Speyside is still family-owned by the Grant family - now in its fifth generation.
In the Valley of the Stag (Gaelic: Glenfiddich), the first distillate flowed from the still on Christmas 1887.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Glenfiddich 12 year old tastes like

• Nose: fruity - reminiscent of an orchard, with honey and fresh malt
• Palate: light and very smooth in the taste, the fruity notes become more intense
• Finish: sweet and fruity finish, slightly oily with notes of oak

Tasting Notes: This is how the Glenfiddich 15 year old tastes like

• Nose: spicy aromas, honey and ripe fruit, some cloves
• Palate: full-bodied, very fruity, vanilla notes and more spices, very smooth
• Finish: long finish, the vanilla and some oak return
