If you love rum and are thinking of going to Jamaica, come here: at Hampden Estate. Founded in 1753, the distillery has been distilling in the municipality of Trelawny for almost three centuries. Historically, this tropical area, which is also popular with crocodiles, is known as the Grand Cru of Jamaican rum. Hampden Estate is known for its rich, flavorful bottlings. strong> highly valued by connoisseurs. The unadulterated, heavy rums are produced using traditional methods. Since 2010, these have also been ripening locally in the tropical climate after being naturally fermented and distilled in pot stills. One of these bottlings is Hampden Pagos, named after the Spanish name for the vineyards in the Jerez region.
 
The third edition of Hampden Pagos was fully matured in Jamaica in 500 liter sherry casks from Bodegas Fundador - 16 pieces in number. These were previously filled with Oloroso Sherry for a period of up to 30 years, which went through the Solera process in them. To enhance the perfect synergy between the sherry and the high ester content of the Hampden Estate distillate, Pagos was bottled at 52% by volume.
