Portrait: What makes the Kingsbarns Coaltown special
New to the distillery's standard range since late summer 2024 is Kingsbarns' Coaltown. Kingsbarns Coaltown is distilled from barley grown not far from the distillery. Kingsbarns Coaltown is matured entirely in former peated casks, retaining the classic, light and fruity style of Kingsbarns while also developing a gentle smoky note. With the classic sweetness and fruity character, Kingsbarns Coaltown produces some soft and sweet smoky notes with the distillery's typical fruity and slightly floral character.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Kingsbarns Coaltown tastes like
- Nose: grilled banana and a delicate hint of sweet smoke , behind it hints of heather
- Palate: Rose water and buttercream are present, then some leather and slightly charred Citrus peel
- Finish: medium-long finish with gentle tones of salted caramel, subtle campfire smoke and cinder toffee
