Portrait: What makes GLAYVA Whisky Liqueur special.

Glayva's story begins in 1947 in the Scottish harbor from Leith in Edinburgh.

Local wine and whisky merchant Ronald Morrison is experimenting with a liqueur for his loyal customers that will warm and comfort - especially those in Scotland Wintern.

After many trials and recipes, Morrison had a liqueur that met his demands.
His warehouse worker Hector was the first to taste the liqueur after Morrison and commented on the liqueur with the Gaelic words "Gle Mhath", which in english means something like "very good".

And so Ronald Morrison came up with the perfect name for his liqueur - because the Gaelic "Gle Mhath" is pronounced "Glayva".

The recipe has remained unchanged since then and since Hector, many have had the same opinion about this extraordinary one I like whisky liqueur.

Tasting Notes: This is how the GLAYVA Whisky Liqueur tastes like

• Nose: sweet, fruity aromas of ripe tangerines and sweet honey, followed by the scent of fresh herbs - chervil and peppermint are recognizable
• Palate: mouth-filling and soft with a pleasant sweetness of honey and mandarins, followed by almonds and spicier notes of caneel, herbs and something Coriander
• Finish: medium-long in the sweet-spicy finish - the ripe tangerines are present

Cocktail recipes with the GLAYVA Whiskey Liqueur

GLAYVA Rocks:
Pour 45ml Glayva on ice cubes in a tumbler, stir - done

The Sunupper:
45ml Glayva
75ml white grapefruit juice
15ml lime juice
10ml agave syrup

Mix all ingredients together and strain.
Into a highball Place the glass on ice cubes, garnish with a grapefruit wedge and thyme leaf and top with soda or tonic water.
