Portrait: What makes the Glencoe 10 year old special
At the foot of Ben Nevis Single Malt has been officially distilled on Scotland's highest mountain since 1825. Official bottlings from the distillery of the same name are rare, however. One of the originals is the Ben Nevis 10 year old.
Available for the first time since winter 2024 is the Glencoe 10 year old. The Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is a tribute to the breathtakingly beautiful landscape of Glencoe. The taste is as diverse as the Highland valley: woody and nutty aromas are enveloped in intense layers of orange jam and banana, while sweetness and fruit flow in a stream on the palate made of dark chocolate.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Glencoe 10 year old tastes like
- Nose: at the beginning fresh, ripe bananas and orange jam, then clear aromas of spicy wood and roasted nuts
- Palate: mouth-filling and soft in taste with an elegant fruity sweetness, again the oranges and bananas - one behind them elegant spice and dark chocolate
- Finish: long and soft in the full-bodied finish - chocolate and spicy hints are present
