In 1798, John Sinclair founded the Tobermory distillery on the Scottish Isle of Mull.
The smoky version of the popular Tobermory is called Ledaig.
The Ledaig Sinclair Series Rioja Cask Finish is the first bottling of the new Sinclair Series.
The Single Malt first matured in former Bourbon Casks, then the Malt Whisky received an 18-month finish in former Spanish Rioja Wine Casks.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Ledaig Sinclair Series Rioja Cask Finish tastes like
- Nose: at the beginning Turkish honey and spicy forest honey - followed by aromas of cracked black pepper and polished leather, above all dark chocolate and candied ginger and fruits
- Palate: soft, almost creamy with a full mouthfeel - again the chocolate and honey, then clear smoke and spicy notes Caneel and cardamom - red fruits in the background
- Finish: long in the finish - fruity notes emerge and accompany strong smoke and hints of seaweed and salty caramel
