In the northwest of South America on the Pacific coast lies one of the most diverse countries in the world. Sugar cane is also grown in Ecuador between the rainforests in the Amazon basin, the highlands in the Andes and the plains on the coast. Compared to other Latin American countries, however, it is less extensive. Rum from Ecuador therefore rarely enriches the European market. Authentic, full-bodied artisan products like Romero & Sons are therefore real insider tips.

Ecuador's oldest distillery produces small quantities of products of impeccable technology and quality. The series Quatro Leyendas (engl.: “four legends”) now brings together four rare single casks that are dedicated to urban legends. First up is the Romero & Sons 20 year old, probably the most remarkable bottling from the family business to date.

The rum combines 20 year old ingredients from sugar cane juice with 50 Distillates made from sugar cane honey aged up to 70 years create a powerful experience with dark notes. A maximum of 274 lovers can experience Ecuador from this new side.

The single cask is a homage to “La Dama Tapada”. According to a legend from the coastal city of Guayaquil, this creature, in the form of a veiled woman, lured men into dark alleys that they were not supposed to leave.
