Portrait: What makes the Edradour 21 year old Bourbon Barrel Matured special
Producing whisky in its most original form - that's what Edradour became a legend among Scotch fans years ago. As one of the few distilleries in Scotland, until 2018 it produced its single malt exclusively in the old farm buildings, sometimes using equipment that was more than 100 years old. And these are rarely used in whisky making anymore. The latter has not changed even after the completed expansion to include Edradour II.
Mixed from eight Bourbon Barrels and bottled at cask strength, the Edradour 21 year old is an outstanding one example of the classic type of maturation at Edradour. Typical attributes of Edradour are enriched with soft vanilla, mandarin and coconut aromas.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Edradour 21 year old Bourbon Barrel Matured tastes like
- Nose: distinctive soft aromas of fresh vanilla pods, plus sweet hints of ripe tangerines and oranges - in the background light fruits and something Oak wood
- Palate: complex and round in taste - vanilla again, now joined by pronounced notes of ripe coconuts - the bright fruit notes are now more present, followed by tones of fresh vanilla fudge and butterscotch - slightly spicy oak tones in the background
- Finish: long, intense finish - vanilla, fudge and also the tangerines are present
