A truly stately single malt from the young Arran distillery on the island of the same name off Scotland's west coast.
For the Arran 18 year old, various Sherry casks are selected and blended together.
The result is a magnificent single malt whisky with strong notes of sweet oranges and dark chocolate.
The Arran was bottled for 18 years, of course without colorings and without chill filtration.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Arran 18 year old tastes like
- Nose: initially aromas of ripe, sweet fruits, with some vanilla and freshly ground cinnamon - in the background syrup and spicy oak
- Palate: very nicely balanced, mouth-filling with notes of sweet oranges and caramelized sugar, clearly behind it chocolate and spicy ginger tones
- Finish: long and full on the finish - the oranges again and now the dark chocolate is stronger - spicy oak and roasted coffee are also present
