Portrait: What makes Nc'Nean Single Malt Whisky special

With a mission to do something good for the planet while improving the image of the Scottish whisky industry, Nc'nean founder Annabel Thomas came up with something very special: The barley used is organically grown in Scotland and 100% powered by renewable energy. Single Malt Scotch Whisky processed.

The Nc'nean is bottled in the first 100% recycled clear glass bottle from Great Britain.

The Cask combination is elegant: STR-Wine- (55%) and slightly more Bourbon Casks (43%) are complemented by Oloroso Sherry Casks (2%).

This is how you get Single malt whisky from the coast of the Morvern peninsula the creamy and fruity aromas with more fullness and depth.

"Made by nature, not by rules" is the motto of one of the few women-run Whisky distilleries in the world.

In 2022, Nc'nean became the first UK distillery to achieve net zero emissions for its production - in 2023 the distillery was promoted to B-Corp company incorporated.  

The certification is awarded to companies that meet extremely high social and environmental standards and are therefore committed to goals that go beyond just making money.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Nc'Nean Single Malt Whisky tastes like

• Nose: fresh aromas of ripe Citrus fruits and peaches, behind them slightly spicy hints
• Palate: complex notes of ripe fruits such as apricots and peaches - the spicy notes now stand out more clearly
• Finish: medium long with a harmoniously soft finish with strong tones of fruit and spices
