Fans know the Harz single malt The Journey as an annual new edition. In autumn 2024, Hercynian Distilling Co. will add a standard to its flagship - for the first time with an age statement. The Journey 12 year old marks this proud beginning of this whisky journey.

For the new stage, the whisky distilled from barley and chocolate malt matured exclusively in First Fill Casks containing Sherry, Port, Marsala and Málaga were preassigned. Instead of the usual 43%vol. for the vintage editions, Batch 001 was made with an ideal drinking strength of 46%vol. bottled. The effect: delight from the highest mountains in Northern Germany - darker, fuller and much more complex.

Tasting Notes: This is how the ElsBurn The Journey 12 year old Batch 001 tastes like

• Nose: initially a slight sweetness with lots of fruit , then spicy aromas develop, plus vanilla and toffee
• Palate: soft and balanced in taste, again the fruits, plus raisins - then becoming sweeter with soft toffee and sweet and spicy Oak - above all a subtle mocha note
• Finish: the fruits remain for a long time, the sweetness also remains, plus a slight smoky note
