Portrait: What makes the Ardmore 2012 100 Proof Edition #21 Signatory Vintage special

The 100 Proof Edition has been closing a gap in the Signatory range since the beginning of 2024. 57.1%vol. or 100 proofis the minimum level at which gunpowder soaked in alcohol can be ignited. Signatory Vintage has been dedicating its own series to the historical unit since the beginning of 2024, in which high-proof quality whiskey meets low prices.

The peated Highlander Ardmore 2012 100 Proof Edition #21 intensifies its spicy-smoky character in Bourbon Barrels that were previously used at an iconic Islay distillery (LA). Thanks to 57.1%vol. as well as forgoing dye and chill filtration he can express this lavishly.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Ardmore 2012 100 Proof Edition # 21 Signatory Vintage tastes like

  • Nose: like the soil in a dunnage warehouse, plus peat and smoke - in the background slightly fruity aromas, some oak and phenols
  • Palate: more and more peat smoke and phenols, old leather and beeswax polish - over which light notes of exotic fruits, paired with spicy tones of cinnamon and ginger
  • Finish: Peat, leather and fruit on the finish - warming
