Portrait: What makes the Clydeside Napier special
With Clydeside Napier The distillery is expanding its portfolio three and a half years after the launch of its first single malt Stobcross and is presenting a bottling in late summer 2024 that was matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks with a Minimum maturation period of 6 years.
Of course this also applies to Clydeside Napier: made from 100% Scottish barley (from farms around Glasgow) and the best water from the loch Katrine, with an above-average fermentation time and an extremely gentle distillation with unusually high cut points.
Maturation in First-Fill Oloroso Sherry Casks gives the high-quality, fruity-malty Clydeside Napier an even higher level More pronounced depth with intense aromas of red berries and dried fruits such as figs and dates.
The new bottling is named after Robert Napier (1791 - 1876), known as the “Father of Clyde Shipbuilding”. His three main mantras “Quality, Quality and Quality”, his inventiveness and his drive for innovation made him and the ships he built famous all over the world and gave rise to the title “Clydebuilt”.
The Clydeside Distillery, located directly opposite the former shipyard, proudly names its new bottling “Napier”, sharing it in all areas of its production, from the ingredients to production and Cask maturation Bottling and the visitor experience on site Robert Napier's values: quality, quality and quality.
It is not without reason that the distillery is one of the Five Star Visitor Attractions of the city and a visit is well worth it.
With Clydeside Napier, the distillery team under the leadership of Managing Director Andrew Morrison (also responsible for A.D. Rattray) and Distillery Manager Alistair MacDonald
(formerly at Auchentoshan) now once again demonstrates the high quality standards with which they are committed to whisky production.
