Portrait: What makes the Rémi Landier L72-73 Cognac Fins Bois Très Vieux Journal des Kirsch N. 8 special
The Single Casks from the Journal des Kirsch series report on the experiences that French spirits have to offer: excitement, surprise, delight and variety. For the latest culinary delights, the Journal followed the picturesque route from the town of Cognac to the idyllic Rouillac - to the renowned Rémi Landier distillery.
The Rémi Landier house is heritage of one centuries-old knowledge passed down by the Benedictine monks of the Royal Abbey of Bassac. As a brand, Rémi Landier has been producing elegant, delicate and powerful cognacs for connoisseurs and newcomers since 1973. The discovery for the Kirsch N.8 journal dates back to these first years of the brand's existence
The Rémi Landier L72-73 consists of two cognacs from Fins Bois from the vintages 1972 and 1973. These matured separately in 450 liter barrels made of Allier and Limousin oak until 1986. They were then married and rested in a dry cellar. In 2012 the excellent result was poured into glass carboys, so-called Demijohns, in order to transfer the “Old-bottle-flavour” into the cognac.
With natural cask strength of 52.5%vol. neither colored nor sugared or cold-filtered bottled, stormy tropical notes collide with fine minerality and nougat melting.
