In the sugar cane paradise of La Réunion, the Savanna distillery has been producing rare, authentic rumby hand since 1870. Unusually for a distillery in the French overseas department, it processes fresh sugar cane juice as well as molasses. Free from any additives and not cold-filtered, Savanna Rums reveal multi-faceted aromas that testify to the wild beauty of the island.
The portfolio includes unaged premium qualities for varied drinks as well as barrel-aged rums, especially from former cognac barrels. For a limited range of aged rums, Savanna is collaborating with contemporary artists from La Reunion whose creativity reflects that of a master blender.
The Savanna - Art of Rum by Yann Le Gall marries two old molasses rums with eight-year-old Agricole Rum, each of which matured in French Oak Cognac Casks.
The result offers a lush nose with floral notes, milk chocolate and honey, which on the palate leads to soft woody notes, warm cinnamon, a hint of hazelnut and delicate roasted dried fruits.
