Portrait: What makes the Glentauchers 2012 100 Proof Edition #18 Signatory Vintage special

The 100 Proof Edition has been closing a gap in the Signatory range since the beginning of 2024. The single malts in the series are bottled with 57.1%vol. , the minimum content above which gunpowder soaked in alcohol can be ignited. High percentages meet low prices.

In the summer of 2024, Signatory will present three new bottlings in the series - all in Casks pre-filled with Oloroso Sherry. The single malts from Speyside fit perfectly into the season. The Glentauchers 2012 100 Proof Edition #18 rested in first-filled casks for a total of twelve years. The Insider tip from near Keith is still a rare pleasure experience as a single malt.

Tasting Notes: This is what the Glentauchers 2012 100 Proof Edition #18 Signatory Vintage tastes like

  • Nose: initially sweet with flambéed, caramelized oranges, then the scent of freshly polished oak, plus spicy aromas
  • Palate: rich in taste with lots of spicy caramel, ginger and lemon peel - above all notes of very ripe bananas
  • Finish: long and spicy finish with tones of sweet coffee
