They did it again - for the oceans and enjoyment: Accompanied by cold, rain, Fog and navigational challenges, Alex and Nick Ravenhall swam from one bank to the next equipped with whisky.

As the weather conditions suggest, the New Zealand brothers ended up in Scotland for their fundraiser: the Hebridean island of Islay. Their distillery icons Bowmore and Bruichladdich lie opposite each other on the edges of Loch Indaal and mark the start and landing point for the charitable open water swimmers.

Each of their swims through the bay was accompanied by Bowmore Single Malt from Oloroso Sherry Casks. On the other hand, an Islay Single Malt matured in Pedro Ximénez Sherry Hogsheads was waiting to be “teaspooned” with the Bowmore. Only an amount corresponding to one teaspoon was mixed into the “mystery malt”.
 
Connoisseurs can decide which of the celebrated Islay single malts makes up the majority of the Blended Malts Into the Bleak puzzle at this point. One thing is certain: Every bottle of the limited edition sold supports the marine conservation organization Sea Shepherd.

• Nose: you can smell the proximity of the distillery to the sea, plus spicy heather and moist autumn leaves - above all red, ripe fruits
• Palate: now much more fruity, you can see the influence of the sherry cask, slightly sweet with notes of old leather and light peat smoke - spicy tones in the background
• Finish: gentle, slightly smoky taste on the finish
