Portrait: What makes the Market Row Botanical Rum special

Laurent Lacassagne and Pat Venning, who have been working in the world of spirits for 20 years, wanted to develop a new lighter, drier style of blended rum and founded Brixton Distillery, located in the heart of South London in Brixton.
Market Row Botanical Rum is the fledgling distillery's first product and an answer to many of the challenges facing the rum category. With Market Row, Pat and Laurent are fulfilling a dream and launching their own brand after caring for others for so long.
For them personally, it was just as important to do something that would benefit the community gives back - Market Row is produced locally and fairly and works together with various cultural projects and initiatives on site.

Market Row combines the elegant rum qualities from Jamaica's Hampden Estate, Worthy Park and Monymusk distilleries, from Barbados' legendary Foursquare Distillery and from the Dominican Republic's Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos.

Part of the blend is made with high-quality botanicals re-distilled from the Brixton area.
The dominant botanicals are Nigerian hibiscus, black tea from Kenya and red roses
from Asia and harmonize perfectly with the selected rums, which have been aged for up to five years, and offer a full-bodied taste experience.  ;
The result is a lighter, drier rum with no added sugar.
Other botanicals used include small amounts of oregano, cloves and black pepper.

Tasting Notes: This is what the Market Row Botanical Rum tastes like

• Nose: bright and lively on the nose with all the classic aromas of a traditional Jamaican pot still rum, clearly vanilla and Caramel, combined with fresh and floral spices
• Palate: the palate delivers what the nose promises - a hint of creamy vanilla and caramel, followed by big fruity notes of banana and pineapple
• Finish: Maturation in ex-bourbon barrels is noticeable on the mid-palate, leaving a beautiful, flowing finish with subtle notes of charred oak and allspice
