Portrait: What makes the Foursquare Absolutio special
Since 2016, Luca Gargano, head of Velier, and Richard Seale, master distiller of the renowned Foursquare Distillery in Barbados, jointly developing exclusive bottlings. These extraordinary rum creations are available in limited edition, as well as the tenth co-production between the two.
Foursquare Absolutio is a single blended rum - the result of a blend of rums that were distilled in both a Column Coffey Still and a Double Retort Pot Still. The final blend is also the result of two different maturation processes: on the one hand, a single maturation of 15 years in former Bourbon casks and on the other hand a double maturation in exBourbon (ten years) and exPort Casks (five years).
In a crisp cask strength with 62%vol. bottled, Absolutio is characterized by exoticism and full-bodiedness.
Only 4,800 bottles are available worldwide.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Foursquare Absolutio tastes like
- Nose: intensely aromatic and exotic - strong aromas of ripe tropical fruits - especially mango and banana, plus roasted nuts, fresh coconut and cane sugar
- Palate: full-bodied and lush with notes of citrus fruits, nutmeg, hyacinth, caramel, cedar wood and dark chocolate
- Finish: long and pronounced on the finish with clear hints of candied apricots, syrup, slate, cocoa, pepper and a hint of fresh ginger
