Portrait: What makes the Très Vieux Petite Champagne Lot No. 35 Famille Vallein Tercinier special
Cognacs from the Vallein Tercinier house delight the palates of demanding connoisseurs in fifth and sixth generations. In the small community of Chermignac, the family business distills and blends the finest, yet affordable cognacs for category connoisseurs and newcomers alike - including increasingly whiskey fans. The latter group of connoisseurs conquers Vallein Tercinier with precious, genuine single casks from the house's extensive and decades-old inventory.
One of these cognac rarities is the Cognac Petite Champagne Lot No. 35. The single cask made from 100% Petite Champagne grapes was distilled in 1935 and matured in French oak Casks for more than half a century. Since 1990, the treasure has been kept in a glass carboy, the so-called “Dame Jeanne”. Thanks to these 24 years, an elegant balance between oxidative and fruity aromas has developed, known as the “Old Bottle Flavor” is known. Through the interaction of the wooden barrel and the glass carboy, the cognac reached its perfect drinking maturity
Neither chill-filtered, colored or subsequently sugared, it has a natural 47%vol. bottled, which work harmoniously with the multi-layered summer aromas and enhance them in a pleasant way. In addition to sugarcane juice and mango mousse, these include a slight “funk” and subtle spiciness as well as a long, fresh finish.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Très Vieux Petite Champagne Lot No. 35 Famille Vallein Tercinier tastes like
- Nose: lush and complex - aromas of dried apricot and silver fir honey are followed by a hint of shell limestone and damp wood, which is combined with sweet aromas of coconut flakes and Sugar cane juice mixes - behind it ripe pineapple and mango mousse, in the background nuances of green apple and ripe pears
- Palate: the first impression is characterized by oily passion fruit, accompanied by a light “Funk”, which is reminiscent of rum from St. Lucia - the balance between fruitiness and acidity is reminiscent of a Riesling from Abtsberg, whereby the freshness and fruitiness are unmistakable, a subtle spiciness, comparable to the “Chili Catch” from Talisker, ensures pleasant tingling sensation - towards the end, spicy notes develop that are reminiscent of sandalwood and pine, like a steam bath with a soothing infusion - very exciting and complex
- Finish: very long and fresh on the finish , with a sustainability that makes it the ideal summer companion
