As early as the 1970s, Raymond Davidson, managing director of the Glencairn company Crystal, Ltd. designed the glass in Scotland.
But it wasn't until 2001 that his sons started producing the glass.
The Glencairn glass is the first glass specifically for whisky made by has been recognized by the Scotch Whisky Association
The glass has the typical tulip shape of a nosing glass.
The bulbous body at the bottom makes it easy to warm the whiskey with the palm of your hand.
The tapered one Opening the glasses prevents the rising aromas from flowing out of the glasses.
The massive base offers a secure stand and is far less prone to breakage than the long, thin stem of a tulip glass.
