The Isle of Raasay Hebridean Distillers are real pioneers.
Since their distillery was founded, Whisky has been legally distilled on the wildly beautiful Hebridean island for the first time.
And: you Isle of Raasay Single Malt matures in a cask combination that is new to Scotland.
The island distillers call their unique whisky recipe "Na Sia" (Gaelic for "the six") - and are now presenting six single cask bottlings.
It combines peated and unpeated raw spirits from the distillery.
Both types of raw spirit mature separately on Raasay's coast in three cask types each: First Fill Rye Whiskey Casks, Virgin Chinkapin Oak Casks and First Fill Bordeaux Red Wine Casks.
In the Na Sia Single Cask series, the distinctive aromas of each of these six barrels come into their own individually. < /strong>
The Raasay peated Rye Whiskey Cask 22/672 matured in a rye whiskey cask from the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Kentucky, where 53% rye is used in the mash.
The single malt was then finished in former Oloroso - and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
The cask developed exciting pepper, sweet spice and butterscotch notes in the Raasay Single Malt.
