“Scotland's Little Gem” once again has something special in store for connoisseurs. The Edradour 12 year old 1st-fill Madeira Hogsheads not only enjoyed full maturation in first fill Madeira Hogsheads. It was also distilled and bottled on February 29th.
 
The Highland Single Malt Scotch is therefore as curious as it is complex. Bottled as a small batch, it consists of a total of ten barrels that were pre-filled with the liqueur wine from the Portuguese island. They complemented the strong, malty Highland Single Malt with a mixture of spicy, fruity-sweet notes of raisins, plums and baking spices. With an increased drinking strength of 48.2%vol. and thanks to no chill filtration, the Leap Year Scotch brings out its full-bodied aromas.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Edradour 12 year old 1st-fill Madeira Hogsheads #110-#119 tastes like

  • Nose: ripe, sweet plums, raisins and figs - something in the background Oak and baking spices

  • Palate: full-bodied and soft - reminiscent of a juicy fruit cake with honey and dark jam - followed by freshly baked goods and strong malty tones

  • Finish: long finish - sweet and soft with a clear influence of the Madeira cask
