The single cask Kilchoman Vintage 2010 Bourbon Cask #478/2010 matured for over 13 years in a fresh Bourbon Barrel and was bottled for the 50th anniversary of the Hanseatische Weinhandelsgesellschaft. Three sets of sister Casks will be released for this anniversary series, the sister Cask of this bottling is Cask #479/2010.

For the 50th anniversary of the Hanseatische Weinhandelsgesellschaft (German importer and partner of Kilchoman), six extraordinary and previously never released Kilchoman casks were selected on the last trip to Islay (The Sister Casks) and on the occasion The anniversary was released as “One-of-a-Kind” editions.
It is a rare selection of single casks from the early years of the distillery, of which Kilchoman only has a handful of casks left available, including the first Oloroso Sherry single cask maturations as well as a 100% Islay malt with an age statement, distilled from the farm distillery's own barley. These single casks were personally selected by Peter Wills and Stephan Ehmke at the distillery's Dunnage Warehouse and released as "The Sister Casks", meaning that these casks were distilled and infused on the same day Casks were filled. After filling the exquisite Casks, the individual maturation period of “The Sister Casks” began. The respective sister Casks were also filled on the same day. An exciting journey of discovery into how aromas develop individually in each Cask.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Kilchoman Vintage 2010 Bourbon Cask #478/2010 The Sister Casks tastes like

• Nose: fresh peat smoke and fresh orange peels are present, followed by a slight spice
• Palate: full and round in taste - the orange peels again, with some vanilla and caramel - above all peat smoke and spicy oak
• Finish: medium-long finish - the peat smoke is accompanied by hints of tropical fruits, vanilla and oak
