Portrait: What makes the Mars Shinshu Komagatake Limited Edition 2023 special

With the Mars Komagatake Edition 2023, the company is advancing its Distillery from the foot of the Komagatake Mountains in focus. It has recently no longer been called Shinshu, but Komagatake. The limited single malt matured mainly in bourbon casks. Accented by sherry and port casks, an elegant, fruity experience is created with notes of apricot, orange peel, hazelnut and maple syrup.
Two distilleries, three barrel warehouses, one brand: Die Japanese pioneering brand Mars distills a variety of single and blended malts - and plays with the influences of three different climate zones in Japan.

Their headquarters, the Mars Shinshu distillery is located in Japan's Kiso Mountains. The Alpine climate is characterized by cold temperatures, fog and heavy snowfalls in winter. The temperatures down to -15°C ensure a slow maturation process for the whiskeys distilled in pot stills based on designs by industry legend Kiichiro Iwai.

The Komagatake 2023 Edition is one of the noble special bottlings from Mars Shinshu and is made from Bourbon, Sherry and Port Casks bright fruit notes, dried berries, soft tannins and honey.

Tasting Notes: This is what the Mars Shinshu Komagatake Limited Edition 2023 tastes like

• Nose: full fruity aromas of apricots and orange peel, plus ripe red berries and slightly nutty aromas
• Palate: full and rich - again Fruits, now joined by light notes of roasted hazelnuts and maple syrup
• Finish: medium finish - not too sweet, the ripe fruits are present for a long time, accompanied again by hazelnuts
