Portrait: What makes the Strathearn - New Make Spirit "The Heart" special

Strathearn is one of Scotland's smallest distilleries and one of the last to use the Maris Otter barley variety, which produces a creamy, very malty new make.

In 2019, the independent bottler purchased Douglas Laing founded the Strathearn Distillery in 2013.
Since it was founded, there have only been a handful of bottlings from various independent bottlers from the time before Douglas Laing took over.
At the end of 2022, Douglas Laing introduced this new one Make Spirit with the name "The Heart".
The New Make is bottled at the strength with which it comes into the barrel - with an impressive 63.5% vol.
There are only 1,800 bottles with a content of 200ml entered global trade.
The opportunity for everyone who is interested in the character of the distillate from distilleries.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Strathearn - New Make Spirit "The Heart" tastes like

  • Nose: mineral aromas at the beginning, then clear creamy porridge with a hint of heather honey
  • Palate: creamy mouthfeel with notes of butter and warm spicy notes
  • Finish: long Finish with hints of citrus peel and malted barley
