In the northern part of Bergerac with The Pécharmant appellation produces the best red wines.
The most famous winery in this area is the Chateau Tiregand in Creysse, it dates back to the 13th century and has been family-owned since 1831.
The current owner is the Comtesse St. Exupéry, a close relative of the famous writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
A southern slope with marl soil (limestone with clay) gives the red wine enough body for a one-year barrel aging and up to ten years of life in the bottle.< br>
The vineyard planting consists of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 60% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc.
After storage in oak barrels, some of which are renewed annually, the clarification takes place barrel by barrel using only protein .
