In 1988, Andrew Symington founded the Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky Company Ltd. Today, more than 10,000 Hogsheads, butts, etc. are stored in the small town of Pitlochry. The exclusive bottlings from one of Scotland's most successful independent “bottlers” have become an integral part of whiskey fans' shelves. Blended in limited numbers from just a few barrels, they come onto the market in series - like the Signatory Un-Chillfiltered Range.

At ideal drinking strength at 46%vol., the whiskeys in the popular series are not cold-filtered. The result: They retain their full aroma and enable more varied taste experiences. To prove this, the Glen Spey 11 year old 1st-use Hogsheads is competing this week. Spooky stories are spun about his place of origin. The fact is: The still rather unknown Speyside Single Malt Scotch matured for 11 years in first use hogsheads and flows into the glasses of discerning connoisseurs with an appealing gold tone.

• Nose: slightly spicy aromas of freshly cut oak wood, behind it warm vanilla pudding and toffee - above all fruity aromas of ripe oranges
