Portrait: What makes the Bushmills American Oak Cask Finish special

The Bushmills American Oak Cask Finish first matured in former Bourbon- & Sherry barrels, then the whiskey was finished in former bourbon barrels made of American white oak.

Bushmills is considered the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world. As early as 1608, Sir Tomas Phillips received royal distilling rights. Bushmill's success to this day is primarily due to its first-class, traditional work. Under the motto “hand crafted, small batches, smooth taste” we create award-winning Irish whiskeys whose high quality impresses connoisseurs all over the world. Bushmills offers excellent blended whiskeys as well as a range of great single malts. All malts are distilled three times.In the traditional way, the mash contains unmalted barley; drying over peat smoke is completely avoided. This gives the malt whiskeys from Bushmills Distillery their typically soft and fruity character and tastes significantly less rough than Scottish malts.  
 

Tasting Notes: This is how the Bushmills American Oak Cask Finish tastes like

  • Nose: light, fresh and fruity with delicate hints of honey and biscuit, followed by warm oak aromas and sweet vanilla 
  • Palate: warm-elegant with a silky, mouth-filling texture - plus a refined touch of crème brûlée, caramel and vanilla
  • Finish: the finish has an amazing oak note and clear hints of maple syrup
