Portrait: What makes the Craigellachie 13 year old Finished in former Bas-Armagnac Barrels special.

Craigellachie is a native of Speyside and yet anything but a typical Speyside Whisky. 
Its fruity, powerful taste is due to the use of worm tub condensers. 
Craigellachie is one of a few distilleries that still uses the traditional process of reliquefying alcohol vapor.

And: the only distillery in Scotland that uses oil to fire its barley during kilning in the malting process - for a robust character.
Craigellachie selected a handful of Barrels from the extensive Barrel inventory and let them mature in former French Bas-Armagnac barrels.

After 13 years, the single malt develops notes of baked apples, cinnamon and caramel. Shortbread.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Craigellachie 13 year old Finished in former Bas-Armagnac Barrels tastes like

  • Nose: strong aromas of ripe red apples, with ripe pineapple and spicy campfire smoke
  • Palate: mouth-filling and creamy with pronounced notes of baked apples with cinnamon, with caramel shortbread
  • Finish: long finish with sweet pineapple, behind it again the campfire smoke
