What's special about Kanosuke?

The Kanosuke Distillery is located on Fukiagehama, one of the longest sandy beaches in Japan. In the southwest of the country, where the East China Sea meets Japan, the climatic conditions are ideal for whisky: mild summers and wild, windy winters ensure rapid maturation of the distillates. Critics around the world agree: after just a short time, the bottlings taste many times more ripe than their age would suggest. They are stored primarily in freshly burned American oak casks, which were pre-filled with the parent company's celebrated "Mellowed Kozuru" shochu.

In 2017, Kanosuke took three unique pot stills the operation: They differ in the shape of the neck and the angle of the Lyne arm. Whether through re-distillation in different stills or blending distillates from the pot still trio: Kanosuke is able (as proven several times in competitions) to create whiskeys with great depth and an extremely soft texture.

The Kanosuke 2023 Limited Edition is based on peat whisky that was distilled between 2018 and 2019. For maturation, master blender Yoshitsugu Komasa and team used equally iconic “Mellowed Kozuru” casks as sherry casks.

The result? An intense, drinkable experience with a sweet, fruity and pleasantly smoky aroma that transitions to herbal notes, apple pie and gentle cinnamon spice on the palate before the Whisky with spicy honey and delicate peat finishes long and warm.
