18 years ago Bruichladdich won the first Islay farmer to grow barley on Islay, an important step for the Terroir vision of Bruichladdich.

Not a single Cask that was filled for The Bruichladdich for 18 years has ever left the island of Islay again. Every little detail - from the specific barley variety to the Cask maturity profile - is completely transparent and traceable.

Over 50% of the barley used is already grown on Islay, but Bruichladdich still relies on it also on the farmer's barley on the Scottish mainland. The Bruichladdich 18 year old has the soul of Islay, organic and Scottish mainland barley, with each variety and harvest year fully traceable from farm to bottle.

The Bruichladdich 18 year old of single malt matured entirely on Islay. The barrels used were primarily exBourbon barrels, which perfectly underline the Bruichladdich character.
The Bruichladdich 18 year old gets that certain something from the use of selected exSauternes barrels. and export wine casks. Before bottling, all three cask types were blended together for nine months.

Groundbreaking packaging design

The so-called “Bruichladdich”. Wrap” is the first packaging of its kind in the whiskey industry. Made from fully recyclable paper pulp, thesustainable packaging encloses the new, weight-optimized bottle design - Bruichladdich's definition of modern luxury. 
The sustainable optimization All process steps, from production to transport, as well as the low weight of all materials used, significantly reduce the CO2 footprint.

• Nose: intense aromas of ripe peaches, honeysuckle with floral notes Hints of violet and lavender - followed by sweet and spicy aromas reminiscent of vanilla, coconut and charred oak - followed by an elegant mix of tropical fruits with melon, peach, apricot and citrus, some honey, caramel and crème brûlée
• Palate: very voluminous and almost viscous in its texture - honey, butterscotch and fresh fruits are clearly visible, followed by sweet oatmeal, barley sugar and roasted oak - followed by woody-spicy notes, paired with tropical fruits with a touch of leather and honeycomb, which further enhance the sweet character of this special single malt
• Finish: the typical Bruichladdich character also comes through very clearly in the finish - the classic minerality of a Bruichladdich single malt is present, perfectly balanced with oak, stone fruit and a delicate floral bouquet
