Portrait: What makes the Duality Compass Box special.

Blended whisky is changing."Whiskymakers" like Compass Box are doing away with the image of the category, raising it to the quality level of single malt - and beyond with perfectionism and transparency. John Glaser and team create textures and flavors that a single whisky often cannot achieve. They compose their luxury blends from high-quality single malt and single grain whiskies from their own Casks warehouse in Scotland.

With Duality Compass Box takes a look outside the Scottish box. The blended malt was created in cooperation with the Bimber Distillery from London and revives the ancient Scottish whisky tradition of cask changing: Single malt matured in Pedro Ximénez “seasoned” Hogsheads Bimber was combined by Compass Box with an intensely smoky “teaspooned” single malt from Ardbeg (teaspooned with Caol Ila). In exchange, Bimber received Glendullan single malt from sherry casks, which the Londoners combined with their peat whisky.

Peat, salted caramel, mango, raisins and honey: Duality celebrates the contrast between England and Scotland, peat and sherry, youth and age - andis aimed at everyone who loves whiskies with texture, density and complexity.

“Teaspooned” Islay Blended Malt (Ardbeg teaspooned with Caol Ila) (60%) - Recharred American Oak Barrel & Refill Barrel
Bimber Single Malt (40%) - Pedro Ximénez Hogsheads

Tasting Notes: This is how the Duality Compass Box tastes like

• Nose: At the beginning there is peat smoke and salty caramel, followed by aromas of ripe mangoes and sweet honey

• Palate: mouth-filling, rich and complex with strong peat smoke and juicy raisins, followed by fudge with sea salt and ripe tropical fruits

• Finish: full and long in the finish - the peat makes room for honey, mango and raisins
