Portrait: What makes the Lantenhammer blood orange spirit special.

It impresses with the use of the particularly mild blood orange variety Moro in the best quality Blood orange spirit with its unique and unmistakable aromatics. The selected Moro variety, also known as Sicilian blood orange, is characterized by its fruity sweetness in addition to its intense citrus notes. Prepared as a whole fruit, the traditional distillation process creates a fine distillate in perfection.

The blood oranges are prepared with neutral alcohol with an alcohol content of 96% vol. - The whole fruit is gently leached in a water-alcohol mixture for 10-12 days. Through this process, maceration, the fine aroma is gently removed from the blood oranges and is therefore fully preserved. The distillate is therefore significantly more complex and fruity.
The slow double distillation takes place particularly gently in copper kettles with a capacity of 450 liters. 
For the spirit, only the middle courses (heart parts) are used with 70% vol. used.
Before bottling, the heart pieces mature in earthenware barrels for up to three years, which is how they develop their soft and characteristic bouquet.
The dilution of the distillate to a drinking strength of 42% vol. is made with fresh spring water from the “Bannholzquelle”.

Perfect with light fish dishes or fine chocolate desserts.
