Portrait: What makes the Vieux Sajous 5 year old.

The Italian importer Velier is known in the rum scene as a pioneer for authentic experiences. The company, led by industry great Luca Gargano, was also a “first mover” when it came to Clairin: The Italians were the first to bottle the locally produced rum from Haiti. Traditionally, sugar cane spirits are not allowed aging. In typical Velier style, they have already successfully experimented with maturation in the Vieux Sajous series. Now the series is growing. Michel Sajous from Saint Michel de l'Attalaye distilled the basis for the Vieux Sajous 5 year old in the Clairin style. Its basis: organically grown sugar cane of the old Cristalline variety. The distillate made from freshly squeezed juice matured tropically in 18 former Whisky and rum Barrels and demonstrates the great aging capacity that the Clairins from Sajous have.
