Portrait: What the Art & Decadence Compass Box.
"That's how we've always done it," is not an argument that John Glaser accepts for whisky . As an employee of a large British distillery, he became an eyewitness to the huge but untouched potential of Scotch whisky. In 2000, he heralded a turnaround for himself and the blend category.
With Compass Box, he and his team have been creating textures and aromas that a single whiskey has ever since often cannot be reached. For their luxury blends the “whiskymakers” combine the best properties of some very old single malt and single grain whiskies from well-known distilleries from their own warehouse in Scotland.
Single malt and grain whiskies up to 22 years old, primarily Sauternes, Marsala and Madeira casks form the foundation for the blended Scotch Art & Decadence.
The limited edition is based on the Decadence movement of the late 19th century, in which contemporaries such as Oscar Wilde more and more was more. The dandy was reborn, the peacock became a cultural symbol, and gold was everywhere. As shown in theoutstanding packaging by Art & Decadence.
The inner values of the noble blend are also excessive and lush: It celebrates with extravagant notes of dried and light fruits, toffee, vanilla, dark chocolate and fragrant oak Feast of the senses.
The whiskies used in detail:

Tasting Notes: This is what the Art & Decadence Compass Box tastes like
- Nose: very lush with magnificent aromas of red apples, waxed wood and wine - behind it licorice, ripe bananas, toffee and vanilla pudding - above all sweet Sauternes- Wine
- Palate: mouth-filling, soft and creamy with enveloping notes of dried fruits such as light raisins and apricots, along with lush tones of ripe apples and lots of vanilla - lingering notes of dark chocolate shavings and fragrant spicy oak
- Finish: very long and wonderfully balanced in the lush finish - raisins and apricots are present, as are vanilla and chocolate - Madeira and Sauternes wine are recognizable, paired with a light, elegant spiciness
