Portrait: What makes Port Askaig 8 year old.

Port Askaig is the gateway to the Scottish island of Islay. And asynonym for great whiskey. Smoky notes, salty taste or a hint of seaweed - the Port Askaig brand captures the typical character of the island and its iconic whiskeys. The independent bottlings from Elixir Distillers are real "mystery drams": which Islay distilleries the peaty drops come from is a secret.
 
No longer a secret: Port From November 2023, Askaig will be inviting you to get to know the essence of Islay with a refined look and a new core range. The core range consists of a total of three bottlings, with two of the single malts being limited but recurring as small batches or annual editions.

The pillar of the core range remains the Port Askaig 8 year old. With itsgentle peaty character, accompanied by fresh citrus notes andsweet ginger biscuits, it is the ideal Introductory whisky into the world of celebrated Islay malts.

Tasting Notes: This is what Port Askaig 8 year old tastes like

  • Nose: dark fruits and mild honey - intense peat smoke and coal dust hover above everything
  • Palate: again the fruits and honey, plus light tones of sherry and lots of peat smoke - increasingly spicy oak tones
  • Finish: smoky-spicy finish with a slight sherry -Sweetness
